Behavior therapy and cognitive therapy can be used to help a person with sleeping disorder. Through these methods, refocusing of the mind is the principle used to alleviate the symptoms. Examples would include improving hygiene before sleeping, writing a journal of the things that happened during the day, and a therapy that controls the stimulus in a person.

These alternative methods to relieve sleeping disorders are widely used and proven to be effective. These methods are sometimes used in conjunction with medications and other traditional practices for optimum results.
